The Ignitus Anthias, also known as the Flame Anthias, originates from the Maldives and displays stunning gradations of fiery reds, bold oranges, and vibrant yellows, making it a captivating addition to both FOWLR (Fish Only with Live Rock) and reef aquariums. Its presence adds a burst of color and liveliness to the underwater environment.

In its natural habitat, the Ignitus Anthias is typically found in shallow waters within reefs. To provide the best conditions for them, a 125-gallon aquarium is recommended when keeping one male along with up to ten females. If housing a single Ignitus Anthias, a 70-gallon tank would be sufficient to accommodate their needs.

As with other Anthias species, the Ignitus Anthias is hermaphroditic, meaning that if a dominant male perishes, the largest female in the group can undergo changes and transform into the dominant male role. During courtship, the male Ignitus Anthias displays an even more intense coloration, with the bright red dorsal fin held upright.

To ensure the well-being of these fish in an aquarium setting, it is essential to offer them a varied diet. Once acclimated, they thrive on a menu consisting of frozen mysis shrimp, enriched frozen brine shrimp, and over time, they may also consume high-quality flake foods, provided in small quantities throughout the day. Additionally, an attached refugium that cultivates copepods and amphipods serves as a valuable source of nutritious live food, keeping these active planktivores content and healthy.
