Scooter Blenny Dragonet (Synchiropus ocellatus)

The Scooter Blenny, also known as the Scooter Dragonet or Ocellated Dragonet, displays a captivating appearance with its mottled brown and white body adorned with striking red highlights. Notably, the male of the species boasts even more vibrant colors and a larger first dorsal fin.

To provide a suitable environment for the Scooter Blenny, a reef aquarium of at least 30 gallons or larger is recommended. It should feature live sand substrate, a peaceful community of tank mates, and ample live rock. In case multiple Scooter Blennies are desired, it is advisable to introduce them all simultaneously to the tank. A balanced ratio of 2 or 3 females per male is ideal.

However, keeping the Scooter Blenny can present some challenges due to its feeding habits. As the fish primarily feeds by sifting through the sand, it might require special attention in providing appropriate sustenance. In captivity, finely cut meaty foods and vitamin-enriched brine shrimp can serve as suitable alternatives to mimic its natural diet.
