The Yellow Candy Hogfish, also known as the Twospot Slender Hogfish or Yellow Hogfish, displays a vibrant yellow color adorned with faint red horizontal stripes. Notably, it features a black spot positioned behind the eye and another near the tail.
For the Yellow Candy Hogfish's well-being, a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample hiding places is recommended. This species is generally peaceful and acclimates well to most aquarium setups. However, if multiple Candy Hogfish are to be introduced, it is essential to do so simultaneously, as they can exhibit territorial behavior towards each other. As they reach maturity, Candy Hogfish might develop an appetite for smaller ornamental shrimp introduced to a reef aquarium after the hogfish is well-established.
To ensure proper nutrition, it is best to offer the Yellow Candy Hogfish a diet comprising meaty foods, including vitamin-enriched brine shrimp or mysis shrimp.
