The Scribbled Rabbitfish, also known as the Barred Spinefoot and Two Barred Rabbitfish, is a captivating sight as it gracefully roams the reefs of the Indo-West Pacific in pairs. Its oblong body shape is adorned with striking blue markings, complemented by a vibrant yellow back and tail. With a black stripe masking its eyes, running from the mouth to the top of the head, and another matching stripe behind the gill plate, this fish boasts a truly captivating appearance.

To ensure the well-being of the Scribbled Rabbitfish, a spacious aquarium of at least 120 gallons is recommended. Generally peaceful, this species can become aggressive when housed with other Rabbitfish. However, it can coexist with more assertive fish and may even be kept in pairs. Thanks to its venomous dorsal spines, which it can raise when threatened, potential predators tend to avoid it. Care should be taken when handling this fish to avoid being stung by its venomous spines.

Rabbitfish, like the Scribbled Rabbitfish, are typically reef-safe when provided with a well-balanced diet. They are known to graze on various macro-algae, including bubble algae. However, if not adequately fed, they may resort to nipping and consuming certain species of LPS and soft corals.

To maintain the health and vibrancy of the Scribbled Rabbitfish, offer a varied diet consisting of fresh vegetables and algae. Include prepared herbivore foods rich in vegetable matter and ensure a steady supply of algae. Although they may nip at and possibly eat some soft and hard coral polyps, a carefully curated diet can help mitigate this behavior, allowing the fish to thrive in a reef aquarium setting.
