Flagtail Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris yanoi)

$40.00

The Flagtail Shrimp Goby is a strikingly colorful shrimpgoby known for its vibrant appearance and intricate patterns. This species often forms a close, symbiotic bond with various alpheid shrimp, living alongside them in shared burrows.

Its body is characterized by a silvery-white coloration adorned with bright orange bars, complemented by a flashy orange and yellow spade-shaped tail. Additionally, the dorsal, caudal, and anal fins can display a stunning light blue/green hue, adding an unexpected contrast to its appearance.

To house the Flagtail Shrimp Goby, it's recommended to have an established aquarium of at least 30 gallons, with ample live rock and a layer of fine to moderately sized sand substrate. A low, wide aquarium with more horizontal space is preferred over a taller tank. It's crucial to have a secure, tight-fitting canopy to prevent the goby from jumping out.

While generally not aggressive towards other fish, the Flagtail Shrimp Goby can be territorial and may fight with its own kind unless they are a mated pair. In reef aquariums, they adapt well but may pose a threat to small, delicate ornamental shrimp.

The diet of the Flagtail Shrimp Goby should include a variety of foods such as fresh or frozen mysis shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and finely chopped table shrimp. Feeding should occur at least twice a day to ensure their health and well-being.
