Flavivertex Pseudochromis, Pseudochromis flavivertex, add an animated mixture of blue and yellow to the home aquarium. Also known as the Sunrise Dottyback, agile swimmers from the Red Sea are a popular aquarium fish. Usually found in the passages between corals, they rarely venture into the open areas of the ocean. Typically peaceful with other species, they may be somewhat assertive amongst their own species. If given adequate room, more than one Flavivertex may be kept in the same aquarium, although it is recommended to introduce them at the same time. They are also revered for their ability to hunt and consume bristleworms. The Blue Flavivertex Pseudochromis, also known as the Sunrise Pseudochromis or Sunrise Dottyback, is primarily blue with yellow highlights at the fins and eyes. A very curious fish with a distinctive personality, these hardy fish will provide years of enjoyment for the novice or seasoned saltwater enthusiast. A 30 gallon or larger aquarium with numerous hiding places provides a good environment. It will prey on pests such as small mantis shrimp, and bristleworms, making this fish ideal for the reef aquarium. If more than one Pseudochromis will be maintained together in the same tank, it is important to add them at the same time. |
