The Blue Green Reef Chromis is a peaceful and stunningly beautiful marine fish that is easy to care for, making it a favorite amongst aquarists of all levels of experience. With its distinctive light blue dorsal side that gradually fades into a pale green belly, it is a member of the Pomacentridae family. Despite being a true damselfish, it is known for its peaceful nature and ability to live peacefully with other community fish, invertebrates, and corals.

In the wild, the Blue Green Reef Chromis can be found on reefs ranging from mid-depth to shallow lagoons in the Indo-Pacific and South Pacific. They tend to school in large groups among branching corals like Acropora. In the home aquarium, they thrive in similar environments and swim actively at all levels of the water column. Keeping a small school of at least six individuals adds a striking and dramatic element to any well-established reef system.

This species is very hardy and can live up to 15 years in aquariums with excellent water quality. For best care, feed them several times a day with a varied diet that includes meaty foods, herbivore flakes, and frozen preparations. Vitamin-enriched foods may help to preserve their beautiful coloration.

In some cases, successful breeding of Blue Green Reef Chromis has been achieved in home aquariums. Males ready to nest will display a muted yellow coloration, but breeding success requires perfect water conditions in only the largest non-predatory aquarium systems.
