Fu Manchu Lionfish (Dendrochirus biocellatus)

$120.00

The Twinspot Lionfish, also referred to as the Fu Manchu Lionfish or Ocellated Lionfish, displays distinctive red, white, and black vertical stripes along its body. Notably, it boasts expansive, fan-like pectoral fins and towering, quill-like dorsal fins. What sets it apart from other Lionfish is the presence of two feeler-like appendages on its chin.

To provide a suitable habitat, a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with ample hiding spots is recommended. During the acclimation period to its new surroundings, this lionfish tends to conceal itself. It's important to note that the top spines are venomous, eliciting reactions akin to a bee sting, albeit more potent.

Upon initial introduction to the aquarium, it is advisable to use live saltwater feeder shrimp to entice the Fu Manchu Lionfish to feed. Its diet primarily comprises meaty foods such as live shrimp, including ornamental shrimp, live fish, and occasionally crustacean flesh.
